The research loop.
Figure 23.1 The research loop. A question is decomposed into sub-questions, searched, read and synthesized, and—the step beginners skip—verified against its sources and cited (in accent). What makes it a loop rather than a single fetch is the return path: findings from synthesis reopen the plan, so later searches are sharper than the first. A one-shot retrieve-then-answer pipeline has no such path.
